Proven, standards based software for charge points, which you can license and embed in your own product. The protocol layer is the hard part of a smart charger and the part that takes longest to build, so most of what is here exists to remove that work rather than to add features.

Everything is centred on an OCPP library client, which is a deliberate architectural choice: it means your charger works with any supporting back office rather than tying you to ours. We do not sell one.

EV chargers are built around increasingly complex software, and with constantly changing international standards, maintaining robust, well-tested software is challenging. Versinetic platforms are built around a set of software blocks centralised on an OCPP client to maximise your choice of back-office solutions - these are the blocks inside the MantaRay smart controller.

  • The most adopted charge point communications protocol to back offices - control, monitoring and diagnostics of a charger.
  • Tested against multiple back offices and through rounds of testing with the Open Charge Alliance.

RFID controller software block

RFID controller

  • Transaction authentication with the Versinetic MiFare-compatible RFID card reader, used for local and OCPP authentication.
  • A local RFID authorisation list protects offline devices from unauthorised charging - stored and transferable between devices for easy fleet setup.
  • Audible response when a card is read, for clearer user feedback.
Load balancing software block

Load balancing

  • Solar PV integration using CT clamps connected to EEL, with dynamic balancing across up to three clamps - site, source (solar PV or wind) and other loads.
  • Configurable modes - Net Zero, source tracking, vehicle top-up and dynamic site balancing - designed to keep the charger inside a site threshold.
  • Advanced OCPP profile support combines standard charging profiles with load-balancing modes, with tunable responsiveness and thresholds per site.

  • Control up to two EEL AC controllers from one MantaRay running a single smart charge point controller application.

OCPP & software overview

One OCPP client, every back office

Our OCPP software library is a client that runs on Linux and/or QNX, based on OCPP 1.6 and 2.0. It ships with an interface for setup and installation, can be remotely controlled from a web interface, and has been tested against multiple back offices and at Open Charge Alliance Plugfests.

It communicates with all electric vehicle charging stations - AC mains chargers and DC rapid chargers alike - so it connects with fast, ultra and smart chargers: all possible charging points.

Local controller application

Our local controller software sits between an OCPP client and the back office, relaying messages without needing a constant CSMS connection. It can inject OCPP messages for local control - useful for load balancing with Building Energy Management Systems and fleet management - and drops into an existing CSMS with very little effort.

Flexibility of open standard

Our OCPP client can connect with any device with a CSMS, giving you the freedom to use any back office or smart charger you choose - and it talks to fast-charging DC chargers and AC mains chargers alike.

Custom applications & assembly

Bridge other technologies such as MQTT, JSON, Modbus or Azure Device Shadows, add a custom local controller between the charger and your back office, or a bespoke Bluetooth app. Assembly-level configuration covers phase, lock types, RDC-DD, metering, ground and voltage protections and temperature derating.

A configurable web app

Every charger ships with a locally hosted web app for full configuration - from assembler through installer to end user - brandable to your company image, with charger diagnostics, transaction history, direct updates and network settings.

Your top queries answered

Which OCPP versions do you support?

OCPP 1.6 and 2.0.1 today, with 2.1 in development.

Do I have to use your back office?

No, and we do not sell one. The OCPP library is a client, so it connects to whichever charge station management system you already run.

Can the software run without a cloud connection?

Yes. The local controller relays messages without a constant connection, and BalanSea and LinkRay both work offline. That matters on sites where connectivity is unreliable, and on public chargers where a dropped connection must not stop a session.

Is the software licensed separately from the hardware?

It can be. Build under licence covers licensing the protocol software into your own product. Buying our charge controller boards includes it.

What does EVerest development services actually do?

EVerest is open source, and getting it into production on real hardware is the work. We do the board support package, the ISO 15118 and OCPP integration, and the hardening that takes it from repository to shipping product.

Bridging other technologies - MQTT, JSON, Modbus or a bespoke Bluetooth app - is bespoke work rather than a product. Ask and we will scope it. See build under licence and how we work.
