CongaEEL is Versinetic's integrated power controller board for public and commercial AC charging. It brings the three phase mains contactor, RDC-DD protection, current measurement and the ISO 15118 interface onto a single IEC 61851 compliant board, and stacks with either MinnoRay or MantaRay to complete the charger.

What is CongaEEL?

The power and safety half of an AC charger on one board, so the controller you stack on top is a choice rather than a constraint.

For a dual socket charger, two CongaEEL boards pair with a single controller board, either MinnoRay or MantaRay. The controller does not need to double up with socket count.

Fewer parts to source, wire and certify

Building a charger the conventional way means sourcing a power board, an RDC-DD, an energy meter and contactors separately, then wiring, testing and compliance checking each connection. CongaEEL folds the power and safety side onto one board, built for rapid charger assembly, and lets you choose the controller that fits the job.

That flexibility means the same CongaEEL board works across a wider range of chargers, from cost sensitive builds to full featured, standards heavy deployments. It sits alongside Versinetic's original EEL board (IEC 61851 compliant, works with external contactors), which remains available for teams already building around it, most commonly through the development kit.

Who is CongaEEL for?

CongaEEL is built for OEMs, CPOs and CEMs building single or dual socket three phase chargers for public and commercial charging. If you are building a residential wall box, this is not the board for you.

Questions engineers ask about CongaEEL

What's the difference between CongaEEL and the original EEL board?

Both are IEC 61851 compliant AC charge controllers. The original EEL works with external contactors, giving more flexibility over the power stage layout, as everything is broken out into separate modules. CongaEEL integrates the contactor, RDC-DD and current measurement onto the same board, which reduces the number of separate components a charger design has to source, wire and test.

Does an onboard RDC-DD meet UK wiring regulation requirements?

BS 7671 Regulation 722.531.3.101 allows RDC-DD protection to be located within the charging equipment itself rather than the final circuit, provided it meets one of the recognised RDC-DD product standards (BS EN 61008-1, 61009-1, 60947-2 or 62423). The RDC-DD on CongaEEL conforms to IEC 62752 and is widely used in applications including electric vehicle charging (Mode 2 and Mode 3), renewable energy systems, energy storage and industrial equipment, where continuous monitoring, safety and system reliability are essential.

Can CongaEEL work with either MinnoRay or MantaRay?

Yes. CongaEEL is designed to pair with either controller board. Use it with MinnoRay for a cost optimised, connected charger, or with MantaRay where you need a Linux based controller with OCPP 2.0.1 compliance, 2.1 in development, and onboard RFID authentication. The choice of controller doesn't change how CongaEEL handles the power and safety side.

How does CongaEEL handle a dual socket charger?

Two CongaEEL boards pair with a single MinnoRay or MantaRay controller for a dual socket, three phase charger. Each CongaEEL board is sized for one socket, so the power and safety hardware scales with socket count while the controller and its communications hardware doesn't need to be duplicated.

Is CongaEEL suitable for a residential wall box?

No. CongaEEL is built for public and commercial three phase AC charging, where the higher current, dual socket options and integrated safety features justify the board's cost and complexity. For residential wall box designs, the original EEL board or a simpler controller pairing is likely a better fit. If you are looking for bespoke design for residential chargers, speak to an engineer to confirm the right board for your application.
