WLTP

Also called Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicle Test Procedure

WLTP is the laboratory test procedure used to produce comparable vehicle energy-consumption, CO2 and electric-range figures.

It replaced the older NEDC procedure for new light-duty vehicle type approval in Europe. WLTP creates standardised comparison figures under controlled test conditions.

Real-world EV range can be higher or lower depending on speed, temperature, terrain, heating or cooling and driving style. A WLTP range figure should therefore be treated as a repeatable test result, not a promise that every driver will cover that distance between charges.
